Built for British Columbia businesses of 1 to 50 people, and for the people who own them.
Twenty minutes, no charge. Tell us what's going on and we'll tell you whether we can help.
Books kept, filings made, returns prepared.
An HR department for hire, without hiring one.
Fix how the business runs, or get it ready to sell.
The whole back office, one monthly price.
Books reconciled every month, filings made on time, and a year-end that doesn't turn into a fight. Prepared and reviewed by a Chartered Professional Accountant.
For businesses with no payroll, or payroll handled elsewhere.
$11,400 a year. No surprise bill in month twelve.
For businesses with up to 20 people on payroll.
$19,800 a year — about 20% below buying the parts separately.
You don't need a monthly plan. Every return gets a fixed quote before we start, and the prices below are starting prices.
The year you arrive and the year you leave are not ordinary tax years. You're resident for only part of the year, some credits shrink to the days you lived here, and pensions, savings and investments from home are often taxed differently in Canada than you'd expect.
Plenty of people arriving from the UK and Europe have never filed a tax return in their lives, and Australians are used to a very different system. We prepare the Canadian return and work alongside your adviser at home.
Slips, last year's return and anything unusual, through a secure upload. Never by plain email.
We review everything first and confirm the price. Nothing starts until you say yes.
You sign electronically, we file with the CRA, and you get the return and the filing confirmation.
An HR department for hire. Contracts, hiring, handbooks, difficult conversations and the BC employment rules — run by a Chartered Professional in Human Resources.
For businesses of roughly 1 to 15 people who hire a few times a year.
$14,400 a year — less than a month of an HR manager's salary.
For businesses that keep hiring, and keep worrying about the rules.
$28,800 a year. A full-time HR generalist in this market costs well over twice that.
For businesses running on paper, spreadsheets and one person's memory — and for owners who want to sell one day and don't know what the business is worth without them.
The most expensive mistakes we see happen in the gap between the two: a contractor nobody classified, a termination priced wrong, a payroll change nobody told the bookkeeper about. One firm, and the gap closes.
Books, payroll, tax and HR for a business with up to 20 on payroll.
The same two plans bought separately come to $4,050 a month — this saves $7,200 a year.
If the complete plan is more than you need.
Tell us what you have in place already and we'll price only the gaps.
Dental, medical, veterinary and physio. Associates on contract are the biggest classification risk we see.
WorkSafeBC classification, subcontractor status, and job costing that tells you which jobs made money.
High turnover means constant onboarding and ROEs. Tips, scheduling and statutory holiday pay done right.
Owner-operators, driver classification and per-diem treatment — three things audited more than most.
Board reporting, grant tracking and the year-end package your funders expect.
Small law, engineering, design and consulting practices. Work in progress, partner draws, and now PST.
Not a call centre, and not an account manager who leaves in eight months. A brother and sister running one firm in Metro Vancouver. One leads the money side, one leads the people side, and we run the advisory work together.
Runs the money side: bookkeeping, GST and PST, year-end financial statements, and corporate and personal tax. Trained in audit at Deloitte and Grant Thornton, then spent four years inside large organisations — project finance on multi-year defence contracts, financial systems and ERP transformation, and risk management on major transportation infrastructure. If the CRA writes to you, this is the person who writes back.
Runs the people side: contracts, handbooks, hiring, departures and the BC employment rules. Leads HR programmes for a 2,800-person, 44-location automotive group across BC and Ontario, where she built the department's first project governance framework and ran the HR workstream on a merger covering roughly 500 employee contract transitions across two provinces, plus two divestitures and an operational wind-down. Began in assurance at BDO and EY. On the advisory side she leads the change, systems and integration work with Amandeep.
Yes, and plenty of clients do. The HR plans are complete on their own and we'll work alongside your accountant or payroll provider. The same is true in reverse — take the books and keep your HR wherever it sits today.
Small businesses are where employment mistakes cost the most, because nobody in the building has catching them as their job. HR Essentials exists for exactly this size. If a monthly plan is more than you need, buy the one-off work instead — a contract, a handbook, a departure handled properly.
Software does the typing, and we use good software — it's why these prices work. It doesn't decide whether your contractor is really an employee, notice that your WorkSafeBC classification is wrong, or sit with you when you have to let someone go. You're paying for the judgement.
For a genuinely simple return, free software does the job, and we'll tell you if that's you. You're paying for the returns software can't think through: the year you moved to Canada or left it, a rental, a business, or income from more than one country.
In most cases, yes. If you became resident partway through the year you report your income from the day you arrived. Filing is also how benefits such as the GST/HST credit start, and how your RRSP room begins to build. We'll confirm what applies to you on the first call.
No. We prepare the Canadian return only. We'll give your adviser at home what they need from our side, and point you to one if you don't have one.
Usually yes on Books or above — your year-end statements and corporate tax return are included. If you'd rather keep your accountant, we hand them a clean year-end package and take that portion out of your monthly price.
We carry professional liability insurance, and we tell you the moment we find a mistake, including our own. If a filing is late because of us, we pay the penalty and the interest and we don't invoice for the fix.
Your files stay in Canada. Two-factor sign-in on every system, no personal information sent by plain email, and a confidentiality agreement signed before we see anything.
Email us and we'll set up twenty minutes. Tell us what's going on and we'll say whether we can help and roughly what it would cost — on that call, not in a proposal three days later. If we're not the right people we'll say so and point you somewhere better.
